Street Style in Five Steps
1. COMFORT: Street style first emerged in Japan. It then reached its peak in countries where the heart of fashion beats, such as Italy and France. For the last few years it has been snowballing in many countries, including Turkey. The most important element of this movement is, of course, comfort. Comfort is in the very nature of street style, which is why trainers have taken first place. In recent years they have stood out with different styles and colour options. What’s more, they are the most popular accessories not only with sportswear but also with classic clothing. They won’t give up the lead role to anyone. Thanks to their comfort, even the nightdresses we wear at night have started to become street essentials.

2. INDIVIDUALITY: This movement is made up of people who dress according to their own taste rather than fashion. They don’t care what anyone thinks about how they look. What’s more, they drag fashion along behind them. So how about reflecting your own individuality in your style too? That way you put it on display and join the ranks of those who set the direction of fashion.
Chic, practicality and accessories
3. CHIC: This is the art of combining street colours with the season’s trends and reflecting them in our everyday clothes. For example, sometimes stilettos worn with ripped jeans create a chic look; sometimes trainers worn with sequinned shorts and skirts create the same effect. Indeed, at fashion weeks people talk more about street style than about the shows. The reason is our unconventional chic on the streets.
4. PRACTICALITY: In parallel with the rapid growth of street style, the clothing industry also began to grow and expand rapidly. The part of the clothing industry that produces cheaper copies of many brands and puts them on sale has also expanded quickly and spread all over the world. That is why the clothes we buy sometimes turn out to be flimsy very quickly, and their colours can fade after just a few washes. What’s more, these clothes can even put our health at risk. So, to avoid being exposed to them, let’s take care to be conscious consumers.
5. ACCESSORIES: Our accessories, the most important details that define our style, can make some of us the trendsetters of the street and others of us look tacky. The right accessory gives soul to even the simplest outfit and adds a lovely sense of movement. That is why, when shopping for clothes, let’s always take care to put together an outfit as a whole. Otherwise we may not be able to combine an accessory we’ve bought with anything, and then we’ll have to keep it in our wardrobe for years. Let’s take care to be conscious consumers every time we shop.
