At the launch, Aytek Dorken also gave guests some delightful moments with his music.

In addition, the special shoes Sobe Handmade designed for Bashaques dazzled.
Alongside the wearable art collections she designs, Başak Cankeş created the traditional Turkish Quilts Project, in which she adapted surrealism to Turkish miniature art. She later exhibited this project together with paintings of her own at Contemporary Istanbul. Here is that quilt.

Among the guests was our dear Müge Bozkurt. Müge Bozkurt trained with Rose Cory, who is described as the milliner’s milliner. She also studied at the London College of Fashion. We love the designs she creates.

Highlights of the Bashaques launch
Başak Cankeş is a wearable art and illustration designer. At the launch she presented her new scarf and pareo line alongside the 2020 collection. The different ways of tying the shawls in particular showed how the same piece can be used in both a daytime and an evening look. A quilt from the designer’s Turkish Quilts project, in which she brings surrealism together with Turkish miniature art, was also shown to guests. The shoes Sobe Handmade designed for Bashaques were among the details completing the collection.
The Bashaques launch showed how a scarf can change a style with a small touch. The same shawl wrapped around the neck, tied at the waist or thrown over the shoulder creates a different look every time.
Milan Fashion Week is a gathering held twice a year and counted among the world’s four major fashion weeks. For details, see the Milan Fashion Week entry on Wikipedia. To get to know the designer’s approach to wearable art more closely, take a look at our wearable art feature.
