Zeki Müren, the Sun of Art, will be commemorated in Bursa with a grand event on the 21st anniversary of his death.
Zeki Müren, a native of Bursa who spent the early years of his life there, will be commemorated in our city with a large-scale event.
At the event, organised jointly by Yıldırım Municipality, the Yıldırım City Council and manager Tarkan Acar, the latest creations of famous fashion designers will be presented to guests in a show by well-known professional female and male models. Various artists will also give concerts, offering attendees an enjoyable evening. Plaques of thanks will also be presented to those who contributed.
A FLOOD OF CELEBRITIES IS EXPECTED AT THE EVENT
The event, which will take place at Yıldırım Municipality’s Kaplıkaya Attraction Centre, will be entirely open to the public and free of charge.
Speaking to bursa.com on the subject, Tarkan Acar said: “I would like to thank, first of all, our Yıldırım Municipality for supporting our organisation, as well as the valued members of the press, our successful artists and models, all the people of Bursa and all Zeki Müren lovers,” adding, “we will be honoured to commemorate our Sun of Art on this meaningful memorial night.”
The programme will begin at 19:00 on Sunday 24 September 2017. Around 3,000 people are expected to attend the big event.

Zeki Müren has a place in collective memory as one of the most important voices of Turkish classical music. Born in Bursa, the artist died in Izmir on 24 September 1996; that is why the date of 24 September holds special meaning every year for those who love him.
