We talked to young model Dilara Kırmıt about modelling; she told us how she started out and what her goals are.

    Enjoy the read..

First of all, could you tell us about yourself?

-I’d say I’m a young woman trying to fly with her own wings, really. I’m 23 and I’ve been a fashion writer for 6 years.

How did you get into modelling?

-I’ve been modelling for the last 1.5 years. Actually, I never wanted to be in front of the camera, but both my social media circle and my real-life circle, as well as my family, kept saying I should do it, and the pressure built up. I realised my own potential, even if late. I made a point of working with quality brands and photographers, and I realised that modelling is in my soul, and it really is a difficult craft.

We talked to Dilara Kırmıt about modelling and her goalsAre you interested in anything besides modelling?

-Professionally, I’m continuing with fashion only, and writing as my main profession. I’m also writing a book; literature, philosophy and psychology are among my favourite fields. I did stage acting for a short while, and I’ll be returning to the theatre very soon.

I’m going to bring a new trend to fashion on Instagram

Do you think Instagram has played a role in bringing diversity to the fashion world?

-Absolutely, and I’ll have a very important project about this: I’m going to bring a new trend to fashion on Instagram.

What is your outlook on life?

-I’m someone who looks at life very positively. When I want something badly and it doesn’t happen, I believe there’s a reason for everything. But when it comes to my work and my ambition, I live by the motto “it’s not enough for me to win, they have to lose.”

And what is your biggest dream?

-I actually want a very modest life, to carry on my life as a famous writer and actress… Rather than living in luxury, a more modest life would be my choice.

What do you love about yourself?

-I love the effort I put in as I go through life to be a good person and to stay that way. I love my workaholic side; I love my spirit that never gives up and never quits.

If you were a song, how would you describe “what you would sing” about yourself?

    -I’d say I don’t want to be a song, I want to sing a song….

    Dreams, holidays and daily life

Where in the world would you most like to go?

-I don’t have a particular place; I want to explore and see every square metre.

Where do you most like to spend your holidays?

-I really love calm and nature. I love camping; my holiday choices are usually a kind of soul detox. By the seaside or in the middle of a forest…

“Life lasts as long as you live it”

    Do you have a motto?

-Life lasts as long as you live it.

What do you love most in everyday life?

-I love spending time at home, because I’m a homebody… In my free time I really enjoy attending workshops and seminars on personal development.

Do you have a favourite perfume?

    -Chanel

What are the essentials in your life?

-I have certain lines, fine red lines, and I never let anyone cross them… then my family and, of course, my profession.

Is sport important to you? How much time do you spend on it?

-Yes, because I model I need to watch my shape, and above all it’s very important for health. I did Pilates for a while but couldn’t keep it up because of my busy work life.

What comes to mind when you think of love?

-I’m someone who is in love with her work… first comes my family, then my work.

What kind of music do you listen to?

-I listen to all kinds of music depending on my mood. I don’t discriminate

    What is your beauty philosophy?

-I can’t define beauty as appearance alone… a person’s soul and heart must be beautiful too. I believe that when all of these come together in one body, that is what makes a person beautiful.

Do you follow any special diet?

-No, I don’t. I just try detox waters, plus light diets and desserts for my health.

    Projects, awards and career

Finally, is there a new project?

-I have many projects, and I’ll share them with you soon.

What awards have you received so far, and what are you working on now?

-In 2018 I was named best blogger of the year by FashionTV. It was a very special title for me… My career progressed so fast that even I couldn’t keep up. There were times when I asked myself “can I really do this?”, and even days, though few, when I said I’m leaving this industry, I’ll lead a natural life and carry on with another profession. But I’ll say this sincerely: my profession didn’t let me go; it practically told me I shouldn’t let it go. Right now I’m at a wonderful turning point in my career; this work is no longer just about my pen… I’m gradually moving into modelling, acting and the TV industry. I have some great projects, and I can say 2020 will be my year again.

It is clear from your career planning and your rise that you are in love with your work. So is Dilara Kırmıt, in her own world, really a businesswoman or a woman of love?

-Actually both, but my businesswoman side is more dominant; I can’t stop working. If you ask whether I could live without love, I could, but I can’t spend my whole life sleeping in the arms of my career. I think I’m a very emotional and deep person; I look at life and people from a very different window… But I need to meet someone with whom I can sustain both career and love; otherwise I’m not wired to carry the two together.

How did you enter the world of modelling? Was your childhood dream the fashion world and the runway, or was your goal something else?

-Everything happened so much by chance and so independently of me that even I’m surprised. I never planned anything in my life. I had many goals, but modelling and fashion were never among them; then again, neither were any of the others. I was writing, but I never thought I would grow in this field. My childhood dream was to be a stage actress, the stage itself, and later to be a psychologist. I completed my theatre training and got my time on stage, but I couldn’t become a psychologist; then again, I didn’t put in enough effort for it. That is the only thing that remains an unfulfilled wish for me.
