.han Hosts the Contemporary Turkish Jewellery Collective Jewelry Links
The second exhibition will open its doors on 5 December. The opening exhibition had welcomed 23 iconic names of contemporary Turkish design. This time, however, .han (hanofdesign) will host the Contemporary Turkish Jewellery Collective Jewelry Links.
The collective positions “contemporary jewellery” at the point where contemporary art, design and craft intersect. It is also concerned with the notion of value that is intertwined with traditional ornamentation, and is interested in the relationship between contemporary art and the human body.
The “Turkish Contemporary Jewelry” exhibition was curated by Bige Ökten. It features works by Aişegül Telli, Burcu Büyükünal, Burcu Sülek and Deniz Turan. Works by Ela Cindoruk, Ezgi Okur and Feyzal Baykut are also on show. You can also see works by Gözde Erdoğan, Gülnur Özdağlar, Hakan Aktuğ and Leyla Taranto. Works by Nazan Pak, Selen Özus and Şenay Akın will also be featured. Finally, you are invited to the exhibition opening at .han (hanofdesign).
You can also follow developments on the .han Instagram page and the Jewelry Links Instagram page.

What is the contemporary Turkish jewellery collective about?
Contemporary jewellery is an approach. This approach does not see jewellery merely as an ornament. Jewellery is a field of expression where art, design and craft intersect. In this understanding, ideas and experimentation with materials come to the fore more than precious metal. The relationship jewellery forms with the body is also important. Jewelry Links positions itself precisely at this point of intersection. In particular, it questions the notion of value intertwined with traditional ornamentation, while focusing on the relationship between contemporary art and the human body.
Who is in the “Turkish Contemporary Jewelry” exhibition?
Curated by Bige Ökten, the exhibition features the work of 14 designers, among them Aişegül Telli, Burcu Büyükünal and Ela Cindoruk. Hakan Aktuğ, Leyla Taranto and Şenay Akın are also in the show. .han (hanofdesign) welcomed 23 names of contemporary Turkish design in its opening exhibition; for its second exhibition, however, it is hosting the contemporary Turkish jewellery collective Jewelry Links.
How should you read contemporary jewellery?
At exhibitions like this, don’t look at each piece only in terms of “can it be worn?” Ask “what does it say?” as well. The real story of contemporary jewellery lies in the material. Where and how the piece sits on the body also matters, as does how the designer transforms a traditional form. Those who want to follow the exhibition can keep up with developments on the Instagram accounts of .han and Jewelry Links. The opening is also a good opportunity to meet new designers.
