A designer who always pairs elegance with simplicity, she has drawn inspiration from the regional floral “Oya” (traditional needle lace) of our beautiful country. In this way, she has presented precious jewellery made with cotton and needlework set on silver, along with Swarovski crystals.
Pinar Özevlat continues her magnificent collections in London. Her new designs are created by combining nature’s miracles, silk cocoons, pearl and mother-of-pearl, with silver. These designs create beauties that every woman will want to reach out for.

The oya tradition in Pinar Özevlat’s jewellery
Oya is a delicate Anatolian handcraft that adorns the edges of headscarves and printed scarves. Its tools are the needle, the shuttle, the crochet hook or the hairpin lace fork. Floral motifs in particular are among its most common forms. With patterns that vary from region to region, it is regarded as a language of expression handed down from generation to generation. Pinar Özevlat’s jewellery reinterprets this tradition through cotton and needlework set on silver, while Swarovski crystals add a modern sparkle to the pieces.
In the designer’s new work, natural materials such as silk cocoons, pearl and mother-of-pearl come together with silver. The result is pieces that complement understated elegance in everyday wear and also stand out on special occasions. Jewellery that draws on traditional handcrafts is therefore one of the most effective ways of carrying local culture to an international audience.

Keeping handmade jewellery in good condition for a long time also means following a few simple rules. Storing silver pieces separately in boxes, away from moisture, for example, delays tarnishing. Delicate materials such as pearl and mother-of-pearl stay lustrous for longer, but only if they do not come into direct contact with perfume and cosmetics. In addition, designs that include fabric and thread should be kept away from water; this is the easiest way to protect the texture of the oya work. Wiping the jewellery with a soft cloth after each wear also helps preserve its shine.
